I took up bodybuilding in 2005 and after a year of training entered the 2006 NABBA North Britain First Timers and unfortunately did not place. I saw this as a fantastic learning curve and an invaluable insight for what I needed.
In 2007 I entered the NABBA North Britain Novice taking 2nd place and qualified for the NABBA Novice Britain.

I competed in my first competition, England’s Strongest Woman. I came 3rd and Deadlifted 120kgs that day, topping my personal best by 20kgs! I was rapped but at 10stone and 5’ 4” competing against ladies who were 15/16 stone was definitely an issue! I didn’t want to gain ‘fat’ I wanted to gain good, healthy size and still look lean.
Some time later one of the promoters suggested I try Bodybuilding. You can keep your leanness and still train heavy, which sounded ideal to me. I went to my first show in September 2006 and watched the NPA South East championships. There I saw the Figure class and was enthralled as I thought it was definitely something I could do.
